Cenni biografici
Vittorio Scarano
si è laureato nel 1990 in ``Scienze dell'Informazione'' presso l'Università di Salerno e
nel 1995 ha conseguito il Dottorato di RIcerca in
Matematica Applicata ed Informatica dall'Università di Napoli.
Nel 1992, ha visitato la
Università Eotvos Lorand a Budapest
(Ungheria). Dal 1992 al 1994 ha visitato il Department of Computer
Science presso la University of Massachusetts at Amherst (USA) svolgendo ricerca
nel team del Prof. Arnold Rosenberg su algoritmi ed
architetture parallele. E' stato anche docente presso il Mount Holyoke
College (USA) nel1994.
Dal 1995 al 2001 è stato Ricercatore prsso la Facoltà di
Scienze MM. FF. e NN. della Università di Salerno. Dal 2001 è
Professore Associato presso la stessa facoltà. Afferisce al
Dipartimento di Informatica ed Applicazioni "R.M. Capocelli" dell'Universitò di
Salerno dal 1995.
Since 1996, he (with Alberto
Negro) funded and co-directs the ISISLab laboratory within the
Department. ISISLab has been hosting, until now, the research
activity of 10 PhD students, more than 20 collaborators (grants,
fellowships) and provided support for more than 120 thesis (Bachelor
and Master level) with computing facilities such that a 38-nodes IBM
cluster, file and application servers, teaching lab, a stereoscopic
screen, augmented reality devices etc.
He is co-author of more than 50
papers in internationally refereed journals and conferences of IEEE,
ACM, etc. and he has been the PhD supervisor of 6 PhD students of
Computer Science PhD program at the University of Salerno.
Vittorio Scarano has been part of
more than 20 Program Committees of International Conferences since
2000, and is actively involved in the organization (Steering
Committee) of the Adaptive Hypermedia conferences and the
Information Visualization conferences. He has been reviewer for more
than 30 among Journals, Conferences and Workshops.
In 2000, he has been awarded
(with his coauthors) the ``Best poster award''at the 9th World Wide
Web Conference (WWW9). In 2008, he has been awarded by IBM with the
International IBM Jazz Innovation Award as a grant of 25.000$.
Vittorio Scarano teaching
activities has been conducted at the University of Salerno in the
Computer Science (Informatica) program at the Bachelor level (Laurea
di I livello), at the Master level (Laurea magistrale/specialistica)
and at the PhD level (Dottorato di ricerca) with courses on
networking, distributed programming, computer architectures and
others. He has also taught for Computer Science degrees at the
University Parthenope in Naples and at the University of Basilicata in Potenza. |
